Who is the accrediting body?

All NCEF courses and modules are accredited by the University of Limerick (UL).

  • 30 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits towards the Higher Certificate/ Diploma/B.Sc. in Exercise & Health Fitness through a flexible learning pathway.
  • ECTS credits can be used towards the NCEF Higher Certificate/Diploma/B.Sc. in Exercise & Health Fitness through our flexible learning pathway and also towards other University qualifications in Europe who follow ECTS credit value system.

How much does it cost?

The Advanced Personal Training module only fee is €1,625 Option 1: Total Fee €1,625 Full payment of €1,625, which includes a non-refundable deposit of €995, is payable on acceptance of your place on the course. Option 2: (2 Payments) Total fees €1,625 Non-refundable deposit of €995 due on acceptance of your place on the course. The balance of fees, €630, is due 1 month prior to course commencement. If you are completing this module as part of an overall programme e.g. Higher Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness, the cost of this module is included in the HCEHF Year 2 course fees.

What am I qualified to do?

The Advanced Personal Training specialist module is for qualified Fitness Instructors who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills to work as an Advanced Personal Trainer with clients on a one to one basis. Advanced Personal Trainers can establish their own business or work in a commercial fitness facility providing personal training. You will be trained extensively to work with your clients inside and outside of the gym environment, in their home or elsewhere and be fully qualified to train clients of any fitness level, with any goal and with the minimal amount of equipment needed.

Entry Requirements

Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (CEHF) Graduates and Current Recertified NCEF Level 1 Graduates:

  • Copy of your CEHF certificate or NCEF/PEAI Level 1 certificate
  • PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) is a prerequisite for the Advanced Personal Training Specialist module & an industry requirement. All candidates must provide a current FAR certificate on application.
Expired NCEF/PEAI Level 1 holders (1987-2006) or those with equivalent health/fitness/exercise qualifications from other institutions or bodies: Click here for RPL application form
  • PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR) formerly Occupational First Aid (OFA) is a prerequisite for the Advanced Personal Training Specialist module and an industry requirement.

When and where can I do this course?

University of Limerick Autumn 2022 Weekday course commencing Tuesday 6th September 2022 (date may be subject to change). Provisional contact days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm.
